Worn steel rollers swapped for quiet nylon rollers (10-pack). Often the biggest noise reduction an older door can get.

Tracks set plumb and at the right distance from the door, with loose bracket bolts tightened, so rollers run freely without binding.

How it works
Diagnosis
We lubricate hinges, rollers and bearings with a garage-door lubricant and flag worn steel rollers for a nylon upgrade.
The springs have lost tension. We re-tension them during the tune-up so the opener stops doing the lifting.
We check track alignment, loose bracket bolts, roller wear and chain or belt tension, and correct what is causing the jerk.
We realign photo-eyes knocked out by frost heave or bins and reset force and limits that have drifted.
We inspect them closely after the salt season and tell you if replacement is due before a cable lets go.
We check the seal on every visit and quote a replacement at $8/ft when it is letting snow and cold in.
Buyer’s guide
A tune-up is not a quick spray of lubricant. It is a full inspection of the door and opener, with adjustments made on the spot. Every TrueFix tune-up covers:
At the end you get a plain-language summary: what is in good shape, what we adjusted, and anything worth planning for. If something needs repair, you get the flat price first and decide whether to go ahead.
Calgary is hard on garage doors. Chinooks can swing the temperature by 20 degrees in a few hours, so steel parts expand and contract constantly. Deep cold stiffens lubricant and makes spring steel more brittle. Road salt and gravel ride in on your tires and corrode cables and bottom brackets. Frost heave shifts slabs and knocks photo-eyes out of line. None of this shows up all at once; it shows up as a door that gets a little louder, a little heavier and a little slower until one day it stops.
A balanced, lubricated door is also easier on your opener. When a spring loses tension, the opener quietly takes up the slack, wearing out its gear and motor. Catching that during a tune-up costs far less than an opener repair later. See how spring balance protects your opener.
Between professional tune-ups, these checks are safe for any homeowner:
Leave springs, cables and bottom brackets to a technician. For lubricant choices, see garage door lubricants and what not to use.
Once a year is right for most households. If the garage is your main entrance and the door cycles many times a day, or you have a heavy wood-overlay or oversized door, twice a year is worth it. Fall is the best time in Calgary, before the cold puts extra load on everything. If your door is noisy, jerky or slower than it used to be, do not wait for the yearly visit; those are early signs that something is wearing.
Most tune-ups are routine: lubricate, adjust, test, done. But because we are looking closely at every part, we often catch things the homeowner had no way of knowing about:
Anything that can be adjusted is adjusted as part of the $149 visit. Anything that needs a part, such as cables or quiet nylon rollers, is priced for you first, and you decide.
A one-off tune-up works if you remember to book it. Most people do not, which is why we built TrueCare: a monthly membership that puts your garage door on a maintenance schedule, gives you better pricing when something does need fixing, and moves you to the front of the line when it breaks. There are two plans:
| What you get | Standard · $12/month | Premium · $18/month |
|---|---|---|
| Full tune-up every 6 months | Yes | Yes |

Standard suits most single-garage households: two tune-ups a year cost more than the membership on their own, and the lifetime parts warranty and 10% repair discount are there if a spring or cable does fail. Premium makes sense if you have two doors (a double attached garage plus a detached shop, for example), own a rental or a parent’s home at a second address, or simply want the VIP line and 15% off parts on an older door that is likely to need some.
Membership is also a good fit for heavy daily use, where the garage is the front door and springs and rollers wear faster. If you are planning to replace the door anyway, the $500 member saving on a new garage door applies. Ask about TrueCare when you book a tune-up or any repair.
We provide tune-ups and TrueCare visits in every quadrant, from the NW to the SE, plus Airdrie, Okotoks and other nearby towns with no travel surcharge. All prices are on our price list, and any repair we do along the way is covered by our written warranty.

FAQ
Our tune-up is $149 with no call-out fee, and it is free with any completed repair. It includes spring adjustment and lubrication, cable inspection, a balance test, motor inspection, track cleaning and alignment, lubrication of moving parts and a safety-reverse test.
Once a year for most homes, ideally in the fall before winter. Twice a year makes sense if the door is your main entrance, very heavy, or used many times a day.
Use a lubricant made for garage doors on hinges, roller bearings and springs. Avoid heavy grease in the tracks, which collects grit, and avoid general-purpose penetrating spray as a long-term lubricant. Our lubricant guide has details.
Some of it. You can clean tracks, lubricate hinges and rollers, test the auto-reverse, clean photo-eyes and check the bottom seal. Spring adjustment, cable work and bottom brackets are under high tension and should be left to a technician.
Often, yes. Lubrication, tightened hardware and a balanced door reduce noise. If the rollers are worn steel ones, upgrading to quiet nylon rollers (10-pack from $140) makes a bigger difference.
No. A tune-up includes adjusting and lubricating springs. If a spring is worn or broken, we quote spring replacement separately before doing any work.
TrueCare is our garage door maintenance plan. Standard is $12 a month and includes a full tune-up every 6 months, an annual safety inspection, a lifetime parts warranty for active members, 10% off future repairs, priority emergency service, $500 off a new garage door, service reminders every 4 months and free phone support.
Premium is $18 a month and includes everything in Standard, plus coverage for two doors at one address (or 50% off a membership for a second address), 15% off replacement parts, a $50 credit for each referral, and a VIP hotline that includes weekends and holidays.
If you would book two tune-ups a year anyway, Standard costs less than paying $149 twice, and you also get the repair discount and lifetime parts warranty. If your door is newer and lightly used, a single $149 tune-up each fall may be all you need.
